Description
Phase One – $32,000, Phase 2 & 3 $TBD
Ricks Institute continues to produce future leaders who positively impact Liberia, West Africa, and the world at large. As a primary partner, RIAA, USA Inc., is committed to sustainable investments at Ricks Institute. Although the national power grid is being restored, it has not yet reached the Virginia-Liberia area, where Ricks Institute is located. This reality presents a significant challenge for Ricks Institute, given the inconsistent power supply and the high cost of fuel for the campus generators that currently provide the power. This reality translates into limited study time for students and a reduction of their potential. It also poses a security risk.
We have partnered with Best Solar Energy, a Ricks Institute Alumni-owned power solutions entity, which proposed a comprehensive solution to rectify the school’s power issue. Our current partnership is Phase 1, a solar power solution for Cheeseman and Tolbert halls, the High School boys’ and girls’ dorms, and security streetlights between the dorms and the Administrative Building. This project includes the installation of solar panels, replacement of electric panels, installation of LED light fixtures, rewiring, battery backups for each dorm, and the installation of security lights. We anticipate that Phase One will commence by mid-July and be completed by mid-August.
Support this initiative to bring security and opportunity to an institution that is educating future leaders.
