In Liberia, thousands of children are deprived of education for lack of money to pay their tuition. The economy of the country is in tatters, and school programs are facing unimaginable challenges. For many children, school is not even an option and they either remain at home or become beggars on the streets. Their future is locked in the vicious cycle of poverty. Many children live in slum. Parents can barely afford to provide them with the basics of life – food, clothing, and shelter. Our challenge is to help turn around their blighted future. Living in Liberia today, even with an education, an individual can encounter extreme difficulties with basic survival. Without an education, the odds of survival are bleak. Most citizens can only hope to be part of casual labor force making an average monthly wage of less than $30.00 (thirty US dollars), hardly the means to raise a family on.
